SacTweetUp- Where Sacramento & Twitter Meet in Person
It seems the whole world is buzzing about Twitter. Even though Twitter has become one of the most powerful social networking platforms in connecting to your target market & other professionals, taking those relationships offline is even MORE powerful!
I’ll explain how SacTweetUp has become the “love child” of Sacramento based Twitter users…
What is a TweetUp?
Whenever I post something about SacTweetUp on my Facebook status, I am continually asked by friends and family who are not familiar with Twitter, “What on earth is a ‘TweetUp‘!?”.
…Ask no more, my lovelies!
TweetUp, noun [tweet-uhp]
1. A real world meeting between two or more people who know each other through the online social networking service, Twitter.
Why SacTweetUp?
Back in February, Alejandro Reyes (who is also from the Sacramento Area) and I were discussing the rising popularity of Twitter and the profound impact it was having on the way people built business relationships. Knowing the successes I had created offline, Alejandro had approached me in co-creating a Sacramento ‘TweetUp’, since at that time, no one had organzied such an event. Within 24 hours (and… a blogsite, twitter account, facebook group/fan page/profile, online community & event schedule later
) the official SacTweetUp was born.
About SacTweetUp
Alejandro & I wanted to organize regular events where we could mix & mingle in a fun environment with other professionals that are also using Twitter/Social Media. SacTweetUp meets monthly, and attracts professionals from all industries. These events are a great place to get away from technology and network/connect with the people “in real life”, as well as online.
Since February ‘09, we have regularly had 75+ attendees at the monthly events, and have witnessed joint ventures popping up left and right, friendships born, jobs offered (and taken!)…and a whole lotta fun being had!
The power of meeting in person and immediately continuing the conversation online has given people the opportunity to create much deeper relationships than I have ever seen from regular networking events. Most of SacTweetUp’s regular participants report that a great majority of their excitement for the next event comes from wanting to hang out with thier “online friends” and that the business benefits are just an added bonus.

Don’t Miss Out!
I LOVE meeting all of you in person so contact me if you are curious & would like to attend one of our events- I’d be more than happy to show you around and introduce you to people so you can hit the ground running! I truly can’t say this enough, but I am in awe of the amazing group of people that attend these events- many of which have become great friends of mine. I promise you will feel the same!
Oh, and be sure to follow me so we can be friends on Twitter too!
P.S. I will be posting my own personal “Sierras-Eye-View” (yes, it’s a play on “Birds Eye View”…you know, the whole Twitter/Bird/’Tweet’ thing?!) of the SacTweetUp Events- posting pictures, re-caps, updates, notifications etc. Check the sidebar for the image/link to access this in the future.

It’s been an absolute PLEASURE partnering up with you on what has become a STRONG network in the Sacramento area.
Because of the SacTweetups, we’ve created an atmosphere for people to connect to the point where others are going out and creating their own groups, making strong partnership with other locals, and jobs have been created. Now THAT’S power!!
Way to be one of the FEW Social Media players in Sacramento Sierra!
Can’t wait to see what the future brings in Sacramento, one things for sure, I know we’ll be at the front of it
Love ya!
@Successfool
You two are a dynamic duo! I have enjoyed thoroughly each event I have attended. I didn’t know what to expect at the first event, but it was amazing and so were the people in attendance. Lots of creative minds and if anything you will be inspired. Whether you are looking to perhaps meet new people, friendship or network; these events have it all. Thanks Sierra and thank you Alejandro for all of your hard work. Cheers to future events. @RosevilleRockLn
It’s safe for me to say that I “married into” the social media play space. Having known nothing about twitter, and the fun that would ensue after getting involved, I got into it with both heels in the ground. Now, several tweet-ups later, I can’t imagine not being a part of this fantastic community. What a blast! Lot’s of talking, networking, laughs, maybe a couple of drinks
, and a whole lot of fun. Thanks for planning such a fun event Sierra and Alejandro.
These events have been more than well worth my time. This IS where Sac and social media meet. Great post Sierra – you and Alejandro’s effort and energy are making things happen.
U-rock.
